Transit Housing at Public Works

Transit Housing GroundbreakingThe City Council broke ground on the transit housing project at Public Works on April 11. The project is the first of its kind ever funded by the Federal Transit Administration. The city received a grant of $1.5mi to fund the construction of 13 units for seasonal transit employees. The city will contribute $300,000 of the total project cost of $1.8 million. We’ve been testing the idea at the old fire station for the last couple of years. The availability of housing has been quite helpful in recruiting and retaining bus drivers for the winter months. The project includes photovoltaics to offset energy costs. The units are fully furnished. There is a rooftop garden and patio. The project is expected to be completed by November. For more information, contact Brooks Robinson.

Are You Prepared?
The second annual Great Utah Shakeout Earthquake Exercise will be held April 17, 2013. Park City will once again be participating beginning at 10:15 a.m. Each department will have a varying role in that exercise. Get more information and register your family here.

But more important, are you and your family prepared for an earthquake or any other emergency or disaster? Do you have a central contact person out of the area that family members can call? Do you have at least 72 hours of supplies, including water, food, clothes, first aid kit, tools, gloves, lighting, blankets, etc.? Do you have a central and back-up location where family members will meet if they have been separated? Do you have a gallon of water per person per day, plus water for pets and sanitation? Have you registered your cell phone number on the local Reverse 911 system? We have landline numbers but not cell phone numbers or VOIP-Comcast in our database.

There is a lot of helpful information on these websites to help you get prepared.
