Park City Municipal Names New Planning Director

Park City, Utah – Interim Planning Director Rebecca Ward has been named the new Planning Director for Park City Municipal. Ward will lead the City’s 10-member Planning Department, which is charged with shaping Park City’s built environment, reviewing all planning applications, and managing both the General Plan and Land Management Code.

“I can confidently say that the best candidate for this position was right here at Marsac,” said City Manager Matt Dias. “Rebecca has the right mix of attention to detail, calm under pressure, and an encyclopedic knowledge of our complex codes and laws to be an effective Planning Director. Rebecca has earned this – it’s her time to lead.”

“Thank you to our City's leaders for entrusting me with this position. I am honored to work with our outstanding planning team, colleagues, and community,” said Ward. “Park City residents care deeply about their future. The coming year will be an exciting one for continued community engagement – with both an update to the General Plan, our work with the Bonanza Park area, and the many important projects that will shape the community for years to come.”

“We are so excited to have Rebecca, who is an incredibly talented, experienced, and educated planning professional, officially join as our Director,” said Mayor Nann Worel. “This is one of the most challenging positions at Park City Municipal, and I have the utmost confidence that Rebecca is up for the challenge.”

Ward, who began at Park City Municipal as a policy analyst in 2019, is a graduate of the University of Utah in both Planning and Law and has served as both Assistant and Interim Planning Director. She has led several major projects in her time at the City, including the Quinn’s Junction Annexation, the Bonanza Park Small Area Plan, and the Planning Commission’s review of the Land Management Code.
