Fall BF

Park City's trails and open spaces change from season to season. Check this page for details on the current season's impacts.

BONANZA LOOP TRAIL IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON! This trail intersects with our Wildlife Protection Zone where native wildlife calve, nest, roost, and mate. It is closed from October 1st, 2024 - July 1st, 2025. Please respect posted trail closure signage and make alternate plans.

Late Autumn/Winter 2024:

Guardsman Pass Road is closed for the season! Bonanza Flat trailheads are not accessible by vehicle until Spring 2025. Plan winter travel accordingly. Restrooms are closed for the season. Please respect trail and facility closures.

Snowmobiles are NOT ALLOWED in Bonanza Flat Conservation Area!

We will begin grooming Nordic track when weather allows. Stand by for updates on Winter Transit to Trails service!

Late Summer/Autumn:

Autumn is one of the busiest times for Open Space in Park City. Plentiful aspen stands and scenic vistas make Bonanza Flat Conservation Area a premier destination for fall leaf peeping, hiking, and recreating. Consider using these helpful resources to plan your trip and avoid traffic and parking congestion:

  • Check our trailhead webcams HERE.
  • Make a "Plan B"! Even the best laid plans get thwarted sometimes.
    • If Bloods Lake Trailhead is full, park at the nearby Bonanza Flat parking lot. Trails from this lot connect you to Bloods Lake. Check the Bloods Lake via Bonanza Flat trail map HERE.
    • Try another trail.
      • Nearby Silver Lake Loop Trail in the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is family friendly and has a large parking area that may be available when other areas are full. Dogs are not allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon!
        • Trail map HERE.
        • Directions from Bloods Lake HERE.
      • Nearby WoW Trail in Wasatch Mountain State Park is just down the road from the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area, is dog friendly, and offers wonderful views of the area's foliage.
        • Trail map HERE.
        • Directions from Bloods Lake HERE.
  • Arrive early (or later) and avoid weekends! Trailheads can fill up by 8am on peak days during our busy season. Congestion tends to die down later in the afternoon.
  • Check the weather! Storms can develop quickly in the mountains, and snow is right around the corner. If mud is sticking to your feet, trails are not in hiking condition. Wait until things dry out for a more pleasant experience that will help keep the trail around for years to come. Live weather information HERE.
  • NEVER PARK ALONG THE ROADWAY, IN THE SHOULDER, OR ANYWHERE EXCEPT A DESIGNATED TRAILHEAD PARKING SPACE!
