Steve Joyce grew up outside of Annapolis, MD and went to North Carolina State to get his B.S. in Computer Science. He worked at IBM for 12 years before venturing out with three friends to start a new company. Over five years, they grew the company to about 100 employees and sold it. Steve spent a few more years at the company before deciding to take a one year sabbatical. That provided the opportunity for he and his wife Julie to come to Park City. Like so many current Park City residents, they came out part time for the skiing but discovered what a fabulous place it is year round. OK, not quite as much in mud season. After a few years, they decided to make Park City their full time home. Steve’s been a mountain host at Park City Mountain Resort and served on the board of a number of wonderful non-profits, including Friends of Animals Utah (now Nuzzles) and the Summit Land Conservancy. In 2013 Steve joined the Park City Planning Commission in an effort to get more involved in shaping the direction the city was heading. That same desire led him to run for city council in 2017. Steve’s an avid photographer and a decent skier. He still hasn’t quite finished that one year sabbatical, even after more than a decade.
