While the carbon footprint of buildings and outdoor lights decreased from 2016 to 2017, coming in at 5,288 metric tons, the carbon footprint increased to 6,217 metric tons during 2018. This increase is due to an increase in city-owned facilities, weather, and a change in operating hours.
