City Employees Bus, Bike and Walk the Talk on Carbon Emissions
An alternative transportation program for City employees during the Sundance
Film Festival reduced carbon emission and commuting expenses. The Bus, Bike,
Walk program encourages alternative, low carbon transportation choices.

Forty-three City employees took the bus, carpooled, walked, and thanks to the
mild weather, even rode bikes instead of driving their single occupancy cars to
work. Together they prevented more than 3,000 pounds of C02 emissions and
saved more than $2,000 in commuting costs. The 3,000 pounds of emissions
saved is equivalent to leaving 11 lamps with 15 watt compact fluorescent bulbs
burning continuously for an entire year. City Housing Specialist Rhoda Stauffer,
one of the participants, commented that “the Bus, Bike Walk program is a good
reminder of how easy it is to get around Park City without a car.”

The Bus, Bike Walk program is a voluntary program that encourages City
employees to ride the bus, carpool or walk during the Sundance Film Festival.
This is the sixth year of the program. Employees who participate are entered into
a drawing for prizes such as day guest passes to the Ice Arena and the
Recreation Center.
