Park City is a small recreational and cultural community of 7500 persons located approximately 30 minutes east of Salt Lake City.  At an elevation of 7000 feet above sea level, it is a picturesque mountain town that maintains a unique small town identity while welcoming the world to its internationally renowned ski slopes and outdoor amenities.  Having hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002 and the Sundance Film Festival on an annual basis, the City continues to balance tourism with an extremely high quality of life for its residents.  

Under the general direction of the Planning Director, this position is responsible for management and coordination of current planning projects, with a focus on implementing the City’s historic preservation planning program.  A solid understanding of design review for projects is necessary.  In addition, the ideal candidate would implement special planning programs and land use studies as well as conduct regulatory review for projects.  This position is an integral part of the Planning team and would ideally have experience in both the public and private sectors.  This position may also assist the Planning Director with special planning projects that require intra-departmental efforts. 

The ideal candidate will possess the highest level of ethics and integrity, be non-bureaucratic, and have a record of performance that demonstrates vision, innovation and creativity.

Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Planning or closely related field and five (5) years progressively responsible planning experience with both complex projects and long range planning.  Valid driver’s license

Preferred:  Master’s degree in Planning or Architecture or closely related field, experience in historic preservation planning, resort-related planning, sustainable/environmental planning, and long-range planning best management practices, computer literacy in AutoCad, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up or similar, AICP certification and/or American Planning Association (APA) member or affiliation.
