Q: Who can I contact with a general building code question?
A:
A building inspector is available in the office from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday thru Friday and can be contacted by calling 435-615-5100
Q: What info do I need before I dig/excavate?
A:

You need to know the color code for underground lines before you start to dig.  The colors can be found by clicking the link below.

American Public Works Association Uniform Color Code

You can also call BLUE STAKES OF UTAH at 1-800-662-4111.

Q: How long does it take to get a Building Permit?
A:

Simple permits can be pulled over-the-counter Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 AM and 10 AM.  These permits include residential int. remodels and non-structural demos, as well as, re-roofs/re-sides (with HOA approval if applicable).  The process usually takes around 20 minutes.

All other permits must be logged in.  When plans are logged in the first initial plan check can take up to ten (10) business days.  After the first plan check is complete and corrections are assessed you will be able to make an appointment with your Plan Checker to go over the necessary changes in order to pull the permit.

AFTER YOUR FIRST INITIAL PLAN CHECK, THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE PERMIT PROCESS TAKES DEPENDS ON YOUR ABILITY TO FOLLOW-UP AND MAKE CORRECTIONS.

Q: Can I pull a permit online?
A:
No. Permits must be pulled in person at the Park City Building Department.
Q: Where is the Building Department located?
A:
The Building Department is located at City Hall, 445 Marsac Avenue, on the entry/main level from the South parking lot (level 2).
Q: Are the Planning Department and Building Department the same thing?
A:
While both departments are branches of the Community Development Division they are not the same.  The Planning Department primarily reviews plans for conformance with the Land Management Code.  The Building Department reviews plans for conformance with the International Building Codes and provides building inspections.
Q: Does the Building Department enforce CC&Rs?
A:
No, the Building Department enforces City regulations.  Enforcement of CC&Rs is the responsibility of the Home Owner's Association of each subdivision.
