Q: How do I schedule an inspection?
A:
Contact the Building Department Inspection Line (435) 615-5103 or in City Hall.  The date, time, contractor's name, location address and building permit number is required to schedule the inspection.  You must request the inspection by 4pm the day prior to the inspection date.
Q: Who can I contact with a general building code question?
A:
A building inspector is available in the office from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday thru Friday and can be contacted by calling 435-615-5100
Q: What info do I need before I dig/excavate?
A:

You need to know the color code for underground lines before you start to dig.  The colors can be found by clicking the link below.

American Public Works Association Uniform Color Code

You can also call BLUE STAKES OF UTAH at 1-800-662-4111.

Q: How long does it take to get a Building Permit?
A:

Simple permits can be pulled over-the-counter Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 AM and 10 AM.  These permits include residential int. remodels and non-structural demos, as well as, re-roofs/re-sides (with HOA approval if applicable).  The process usually takes around 20 minutes.

All other permits must be logged in.  When plans are logged in the first initial plan check can take up to ten (10) business days.  After the first plan check is complete and corrections are assessed you will be able to make an appointment with your Plan Checker to go over the necessary changes in order to pull the permit.

AFTER YOUR FIRST INITIAL PLAN CHECK, THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE PERMIT PROCESS TAKES DEPENDS ON YOUR ABILITY TO FOLLOW-UP AND MAKE CORRECTIONS.

Q: Can I pull a permit online?
A:
No. Permits must be pulled in person at the Park City Building Department.
Q: What is the difference between Open Skate and Cheap Skate?
A:
These are both times when the public is welcome to come skate. The only difference is the cost and time length. The open skate is typically 1.5 hrs or longer, a cheap skate is shorter, sometimes only 45min long. Prices can be found HERE.
Q: Can I buy used skates?
A:
Yes, however a lot of skates conform to the foot of the owner ,so be sure they are fitted properly before spending too much money on something that might not be right for your skater. We have a limited supply of used hockey and figure skates on hand to sell.
Q: Do you sell ice skates?
A:

YES, we do!

We sell both Jackson/Ultima Skates and Risport Skates. Jackson makes low end comfort skates for kids and adults, as well as mid and high end figure skates. Risport makes mid to high end figure skates, and we are the ONLY Risport dealer in the state. For more information, or to arrange a fitting, contact Erika Roberts at 453-615-5704 or eroberts@parkcity.org.

We do provide sharpening and some repair services, and sell a variety of minor figureskating and hockey items (practice jerseys, skate guards, skating tights, laces, etc).

Q: Why do City buses leave their engines running at bus stops?
A:
City buses have equipment, such as turbo-charged engines and air brake systems, which require longer idling times than most vehicles for efficient operation. Additionally, City buses need to idle in order to power onboard signage for bus routes, automatic doors, and heating/cooling systems which are critical for passenger safety and a positive public transit experience. Aside from idling, the Park City Transit department has completed a variety of route-planning and logistical improvements to save fuel and improve local air quality. In order to protect the environment, please take advantage of our excellent and FREE transit system: EPA reports that buses emit 68% less CO2 per passenger mile than riding in a personal vehicle..
Q: Why do Police vehicles need to idle?
A:
Police Officers leave their vehicles running in order to power critical auxiliary equipment such as onboard computers, surveillance cameras, and emergency communications devices. We are currently investigating ways to reduce vehicle idling for Police cruisers, but these vehicles will continue to require idling for day-to-day safety operations and are covered by exception (C) in the idling ordinance.
Q: Are visitors welcome at the PC MARC?
A:
Yes!  The PC MARC is a public facility, and visitors are always welcome.  Daily drop-in rates vary by activity, and we also offer a monthly or 10-punch pass at a visitor rate.
