Water Quality In Your Area
The United States has one of the safest water supplies in the world. However, drinking water quality varies from place to place, depending on the condition of the source water from which it is drawn and the treatment it receives. Individual water systems, under the watchful eye of state regulatory agencies, are responsible to follow strict procedures for sampling and testing of the drinking water in their system. Park City is in compliance with requirements for testing and water quality.

The Park City Water Department, as required by the State Division of Drinking Water, publishes a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) annually. The CCR reports the highest and lowest levels of each constituent found anywhere in the system. These ranges include untreated raw water. Although the information reported in the CCR is important information to provide to Park City residents, the CCR does not provide specific information about the quality of water actually delivered to a service in a specific area of town.

In response to requests for this information, the Park City Water Department has expanded testing so that water customers will readily have access to information on the water that is actually delivered through their tap. On a quarterly basis Park City Water Department staff sample the water for all constituents contained in the CCR in eight (8) different areas of the city. These eight (8) areas represent all possible mixing from Park City's different water sources. Samples are sent to state certified labs for analysis.

The "8-Area Sampling Report" which contains results of this testing is available on this site and is updated quarterly. Reading the report is fairly simple:
  • The left column contains the constituent to be reviewed.
  • To the right of the constituent is the maximum contaminant level (MCL) allowed by the EPA and State.
  • Knowing the constituent and its MCL read across to the value in the column representing your area of town and compare your water quality with requirements.
