Planning & Zoning Department
The Planning Department processes land use applications, provides public information related to zoning, mapping and subdivision regulations; prepares and reviews long-range plans, policies and programs that promote land use policy established by the City Council and Planning Commission; maintains a comprehensive general plan in addition to Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances; issues construction permits for individual developments that implement all the regulations and conditions placed on the property; and administers an Historic District grant program.

BOARD/COMMISSION OPENINGS

Park City is currently advertising for Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Board, and Board of Adjustment member availabilites as of July 1, 2009. Applications are available from the Park City Planning Department (1255 Iron Horse Drive), the Executive offices (Old Miner's Hospital), or you can download an application below.

There are three (3) Commissioner availabilities on the Planning Commission effective July 1, 2009.  The application deadline is Monday, June 1, 2009.  Commission members must be residents of Park City.  Each member serves a term of four years.  The Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. for a work session and 6:30 p.m. for their regular meeting. 

The Planning Commission was created pursuant to the Utah Code.  Their scope of review includes, but is not limited to Annexation requests, Subdivisions, Record of Survey plats, and Plat Amendments, Master Planned Developments, and Conditional Use Permits.

There four(4) Board member availablities on the Historic Preservation Board effective July 1, 2009.  Board members need not be residents of Park City.  Each member serves a term of three years.  The Board meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, meeting an average of 18-22 times per year.  

This is a Board created pursuant to the Utah Code to preserve and encourage design preferences in the Historic District that reflect Park City’s mining heritage according to the Land Management Code and the Historic District Design Guidelines. 

There is one (1) vacancy for a Board of Adjustment member and a vacancy for one (1) alternate effective July 1, 2009. The application deadline is Monday, June 1, 2009. Board members must be residents of Park City.  Each member serves a term of five years.  The Commission meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 5:00 p.m. on an as needed basis, meeting an average of four times a year.   

The Board of Adjustment was created pursuant to the Utah Code. The Board hears applications regarding variances, modifications to non-conforming uses, special exceptions to the Land Management Code, and appeals.
