Parking Rates & Enforcement

Rates
Main Street - $1/hour with a 3-hour time limit
Brew Pub Lot (at top of Swede Alley) - $1/hour with a 3-hour time limt
Swede Alley, China Bridge Garage, Gateway Garage Upper Level, and Flag Pole Lot - No charge with a 4-hour time limit.
Marsac and Sandridge Lots - No charge with an all-day limit

Enforcement
Parking Services maintains an enforcement philosophy that: 1) supports City ordinances, 2) promotes traffic and pedestrian safety, and 3) encourages turnover of available on-street parking spaces in order to increase the likelihood of locating a convenient place to park.

In general, parking can be enforced at any time during times listed on posted signs.  In general, pay zones are enforced from 11a.m. to 8 p.m. and 4-hour zones from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City Council Goals
Council maintains the following goals and objectives for the Parking Management Program:

  • manage parking to ensure an efficient use of resources;
  • provide a forum in which a Parking Committee can work bi-annually with staff to monitor and assess the receptiveness of user groups to parking rates and regulations;
  • generate sufficient revenues to pay for program costs;
  • mitigate unintended impacts;
  • provide appropriate levels of free parking when a surplus is evidenced.

Mission Statement
In order to: 1) enhance public safety and traffic flow; 2) distribute limited parking resources to a variety of users; 3) provide short-term spaces for shoppers and business users, and; 3) increase the convenience in finding spaces for visitors, Parking Services strives to manage parking resources in a efficient, safe and beneficial manner through consistent and equitable monitoring practices.  Staff endeavors to provide visitor information in a friendly manner and administer the program with the highest degree of fair and consistent customer service.
