Our Historic Main Street is one of the precious gems of Park City that locals and visitors enjoy. The downtown streets predate the invention of the automobile. Today, Main Street and its surrounding streets serve many competing interests. Many different uses compete for the downtown parking resource with one common goal - serve the Main Street visitor.
Park City's parking program is designed to serve visitors by managing spaces so that the premium parking spaces are left for the guest. It is a tourist friendly approach that will enhance the Park City experience.We are all in this together! Let's make it work.
Other reasons for parking management and enforcement are:
- Enhance public safety and traffic flow, which decreases congestion and improves air quality;
- Distribute limited parking resources to a variety of users;
- Provide short-term spaces for shoppers and business users;
- Increase tourists' ability to find convenient parking.
Parking Services accomplishes these goals by:
- Encouraging compliance with on-street regulations through an enforcement program;
- Providing courteous and responsive customer service;
- Offering information on parking options and regulations, residential and employee parking options and permits, special parking use permits, and transportation alternatives;
- Providing directions, information and assistance to visitors;
Park City utilizes a Pay-and-Display system installed in January 1998 to regulate its Main Street parking spaces. The system allows multiple payment options including credit card, coin, or tokens.
But if you don't want to pay for a space, over 75% of the parking in the Historic Core is free parking with a time limit. So come and enjoy the Park City Main Street experience!
